Ingredients:
1 recipe Basic Cookie Dough ½ teaspoon almond extract 2ml 18 - 21 candied cherries, halved
Preheat oven to 375º (190° C). In medium bowl, combine Basic Cookie Dough with almond extract and beat until thoroughly blended.
Roll pieces of dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls and place 2 inches (5 cm) apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Top each dough ball with a cherry half, cut side down.
Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven and let cookies cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Transfer to cooling rack. (Makes 3 to 3½ dozen.) |
Instructions:
Basic Cookie Dough
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened 120ml 1 cup sugar 240ml 1 egg ½ teaspoon vanilla 2ml 1 teaspoon baking powder 5ml 2 cups flour 480ml
In large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. In medium bowl, sift ½ teaspoon (2 ml) salt, baking powder and flour together. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating well after each addition.
Cover and refrigerate dough until ready to use. Warm to room temperature before using unless recipe specifies otherwise. |
